No immediate threat of Floods : Chief Engineer I&FC

Department gears up to monitor the situation


Srinagar, Mar 11 ( RNA): With heavy rains lashing valley plains , Flood Control department has geared up to deal with the rising water levels in various water bodies and rivers. The Chief Engineer of Irrigation and Flood Control department however, said that there was no immediate threat of floods in the valley but added that monitoring has been intensified across Kashmir.
" There is no immediate threat of a flood like situation. But we have intensified monitoring and field staff has been asked to be vigilant and monitor the situation continuously." Chief Engineer Mr. Iftikhar Kakro told RNA.
Pertinently the most parts of the valley including Capital Srinagar have been experiencing moderate rainfall from past few days which has intensified since morning trigering fears of flood like situation. Weather department has predicted more rains in coming days. RNA
