Drug control department intensifies market inspection in North Kahshmir

Ban imposed on various substandard drugs, many FIRs lodged


Baramulla,13 March RNA: Intensifying its special drive to conduct checking of chemist outlets to ensure quality and safe drugs for the consumers in the market, the Drug Control department has intensified it's drive and carried out systematic inspections across the North kashmir districts including Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora .

According to Regional News Agency ( RNA), during the Covid19 Pandemic when the Valley was ‘grappling’ with deadly Coronavirus ,the drug control teams conducted exhausted inspections to various shops including government hospitals in sopore, Baramulla, Pattan, Bandipora , Kupwara and Handwara locations to check the varacity of drugs.

During the inspection the teams lifted samples of different medicines ,sent to drug testing laboratories and medicines of fourteen Pharmaceutical companies were banned after they were found to be of 'substandard quality' following lab tests.

The drug authorities have urged the stakeholders not to sell or prescribe the use of these 14 medicines with immediate effect.

Reliable sources told Regional News Agency that the restriction was imposed on the sale and use of certain batch of the medicines that failed the lab test.

Meanwhile the drug control Department while tightening the noose on drug mafia , has decided to intensify the raids and surprise inspections in the suspected places.

The officials appealed the public to provide support to the department by reporting any instance of drug abuse to their nearest Drug Control Officer or alternatively lodge such complaints directly to the grievance cell of the department .RNA
