Students asked to get particular colour masks in Mawar Zone

Students asked to get particular colour masks in Mawar Zone

Parents aghast , if we can't, shall our children miss the school ? they ask

Srinagar, March 14 ( RNA): As the schools are set to re-open for lower primary classes from Monday, parents in Mawar zone of Handwara have been wondering from shop to shop to get particular coulor masks for their children following the "diktat" from the authorities of the education department. Many parents from the zone told RNA that they have been asked to get a set of three masks of atleast three colours for their wards for a week. The parents accused authorities of creating unnecessary trouble for them as such masks are very hard to locate from the market. They said no such practice is followed in private schools whereas in Govt schools such diktats may hinder the education prospects of their children.
" Wherefrom shall we get these special colour masks in this remote area . Should this mean that we won't be able to send our children to school if we aren't able to get these masks.?" asked a parent.
Meanwhile ZEO Mawar told RNA that these were not his directions but have been issued from Director School Education and duely endorsed by Chief Education Officer Kupwara.
" These are not my directions. This has come from Director and endorsed by CEO. The purpose of this is to make sure that the Children are able to change the masks every third day to maintain hygiene." ZEO told RNA. When asked why should department insist on particular masks with particular colours, ZEO said, " Department wants to keep a particular colour for every zone."
The Director School Education could not be reached for his word despite repeated attempts by RNA.
