Srinagar,14 march RNA : An unidentified militant has been killed in an encounter with security forces and militants in Rawalpora area in South Kashmir’s Shopian district today on second day of the operation.
Official sources told Regional News Agency that the encounter raged on last night entered the second day and one unidentified militant has been killed on early morning of sunday so far and the operation is underway in the area.
Earlier, the Government Forces including 34 Rashtriya Rifles of the Indian Army, 188 Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force, and Jammu Kashmir jointly conducted the anti Militancy operation on Saturday evening following information about presence of militants there.
As the joint team of security forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
Sources told RNA that the gunfight lasted for some time and the operation was suspended in wake of darkness and the security forces installed lights.
The operation resumed on Sunday morning and one unidentified militant has been killed so far and operation is underway.
Meanwhile kashmir zone police tweeted in its official Twitter handle that "one unidentified terrorist killed, operation going on , Further details shall follow. @Jmukmrpolice.
And Army's chinar corps in its tweet said that, One M4 carbine,3 magazines and 36 Armour piercing Rounds and 9600 of Cash has been recovered from the site and the operation is in process. RNA.
