The move will affect the healthcare of J&K in general: Qayoom Wani

Srinagar/ Oct 03: Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has taken a serious note of the move taken by the govt with regard to the pooling of MBBS and PG seats of Jammu and Kashmir in All India Quota (AIQ), JKCSF on Saturday said the move will affect the career of JK aspirants in particular and the healthcare of J and K in general.
Opposing the move, JKCSF Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani said pooling will harm the future prospects of aspiring candidates.
Referring to the news reports, Wani said, The Medical Council Committee (MCC), in its recent notification, stated that JK government was likely to participate in AIQ counseling from this year and referred the subject to JK government for its approval.
Whileas, JK has been reserving all the medical seats for local students as per the need and local requirement.
“Now with this new move (pooling), 15 percent of the MBBS seats and 50 percent of PG seats will go to AIQ,” Wani said.
“This kind of merger of MBBS and PG seats will block job avenues for local candidates which In turn will compond the unemployment of medicos JK.
Wani said that experts reveal that pooling will affect doctor-patient ratio that would deteriorate the health care delivery system in JK. Which amounts to depriving the people of Kashmir the services of specialist doctors,” JKCSF Chairman said

JKCSF Vehemently urges upon the govt to rethink over this issue and to keep all medical seats of MBBS and PG quota seats available only for local candidates as it has been in earlier times thus to honor the rights and interests of the people of Jk and to flare up the health sector here.
