Srinagar, 09 October: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Saturday expressed deep anguish over the massive fire that erupted in Parimpora Bypass in which dozens of residential houses have gutted down.

Expressing grief over the heavy loses incurred by the people in the massive fire that broke out in the residential area of Fruit Mandi Parimpora area of Srinagar on Thursday afternoon, Party’s Central Secretary Irfan Shah expressed unison with the affected families and impressed upon the divisional and district administration to come to the rescue of the affected.

Irfan visited the affected families and expressed his sympathies with them on their loss. While interacting with him, the victims said that most of the residential houses have no insurance cover and the losses incurred by the families are immense. During his visit, Irfan Shah noted that most of the victims live by hand to mouth and also lack the resources to reconstruct their fully damages houses. The victims are currently living under open sky and cash strapped as well; he said adding that the ravaged people have lost all their belongings edibles and other household items in the devastating fire, therefore making it imperative for the divisional and district administration to step in and help the affected families withstand the disaster.

Meantime, he urged the concerned authorities to rush revenue teams to the spot access the losses, so that the quantum of the compensation can be worked and distributed at an earliest. Irfan also implored upon the concerned authorities to provide subsidized building material to the fire affected households, so that the reconstruction work picks up before the onset of harsh winter.
