KUPWARA, OCTOBER 13: To ensure good governance and to address issues at the door steps of public, the District Administration Kupwara today organized four Mega Block Divas cum grievance redressal camps at Tarathpora, Mawar Qalamabad, Wavoora and Teetwal.
 
The main function was held at Tarathpora which was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Imam Din.      
 
DDC member, Advocate Ulfat; BDC Tarathpora, PRIs and officers of the administration, besides, large number of people participated in the Mega Block Divas. 
 
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner said that the government is committed to redress the problems of people, adding that the Block Divas like programmes have been formulated by the Government to redress the problems of the people at their doorsteps.   
 
He said the three tier Panchayati Raj System is flourishing at ground level and the basic plan of development is formulated by the public representatives in consultation through Gram Panchayats.
 
He directed the concerned officers to work with added dedication and remain proactive in resolving the problems of the people.
 
Referring to the demands of the PRIs regarding completion of various on-going works, the Deputy Commissioner issued on spot directions to the officers for timely completion of the works and redressal of issues raised. 
 
The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the people to follow Covid appropriate behaviour and other SOPs and ensure usage of masks, hand sanitizers. He appealed to the youth below 45 year age to come forward and vaccinate themselves at nearest vaccination centres so that the possible 3rd wave of COVID-19 can be defeated. 
 
Earlier, DDC Member, BDC Chairperson, PRIs and senior citizens highlighted their developmental issues which include upgradation of local PHC, uninterrupted supply of water, macadamization of inner roads and other day to day issues. 
 
Meanwhile, officers of line departments heard the grievances of the people during the entire day and several issues were redressed on the spot. 
 
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner distributed cash Rs.23000 under District Red Cross Fund among several widows and destitute persons.  
 
Under the Integrated Dairy Development scheme, approval letters were distributed by the Deputy Commissioner among various individual beneficiaries and Women SHGs. He also distributed PM Golden Cards among several beneficiaries.       
 
At Handwara, the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nazir Ahmad Mir while as, at Teetwal, SDM Karnah, Dr. Gulzar Ahmad Rather and at Wavoora, SDM Sogam, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat presided over the block divas programmes. 
 
The PRIs and general public projected their demands pertaining to different departments including Health, Education, Agriculture and allied sectors and different engineering departments, besides, Social Welfare.
