DC Shopian holds Block Diwas at Arhama, Shopian

SHOPIAN, APRIL 20 (RNA): The District Administration Shopian today organised a weekly Public Outreach programme/Block Diwas at Mini Secretariat Arhama, here.
The programme was chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya. During the course of the programme, DC keenly listened to the grievances of the people who came from different blocks of Shopian district.
Sectoral / District heads and other officials of various departments present were instructed to provide/ resolve services/ grievances as demanded by public delegations and citizens.
During the programme, the public representatives, delegations and locals of Keller, Zainpora, Herman, Ramnagri and Shopian blocks put forth their grievances and demands regarding provision of different Public utilities viz. drinking water, electricity, road connectivity and macadamization, solar lights, veterinary centres, teachers for Tribal students, construction of houses under PMAY, electric poles and transformers, laying of pipelines, irrigation facilities, construction of playground and other various issues for prompt resolution.
The DC after giving a patient hearing directed the concerned officers to resolve their issues in a time bound manner. Many grievances were redressed on spot, while DC assured that rest of grievances and public issues will be redressed on priority basis.
The DC on the occasion, appealed public representatives and citizens alike to converse water at their own level keeping in view of depletion of underground acquirers and also directed department of Jal Shakti to ensure maximum enforcement of utilisation of water supplies by curbing on water wastage and diversion of drinking water for irrigation purposes.
He also instructed the Irrigation department to cover more and more land of the district under irrigation. He also apprised on the occasion that many new water supply schemes will be taken up for execution under Jal Jeevan Mission in the district in this year.
Delegations from Sedow, Borihalan, Malik Check, Saidpora, Ramnagri, Reshnagri, Chowan, Keller, Nowgam,Mullu Daangerpora, Chotipora called upon the DC with the public demands in the Block Diwas.
On the occasion, ADC Shopian distributed one camera and one sewing machine to two women belonging to distressed families, identified by the Social welfare department for supporting their livelihood endeavors.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, District Heads of Education, Health, Social Welfare, Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Youth Services & Sports, Information, Block Development officers of the district and other officers and officials of Jal Shakti, Irrigation, R&B, KPDCL were present on the occasion.
