DDC Kathua reviews Amarnath Yatra arrangements

Formulates contingency plan to accommodate 5000 pilgrims


KATHUA, APRIL 22: District Development Commissioner, Kathua Rahul Yadav today chaired a meeting of district officers and civil society members to discuss arrangements for smooth conduct of annual Yatra of Shri Amarnath Yatra- 2022. The meeting discussed issues related to sanitation, supply of LPG cylinders to langar sites, readiness of fire tender and an effective contingency plan to accommodate Yatris in case of any eventuality. It was informed in the meeting that the District administration has worked out a contingency plan to accommodate 5000 pilgrims in 34 identified locations comprising 18 Government buildings, 7 religious places and 9 other private buildings in case of any exigency. The DC Kathua informed the meeting that Nodal Officers have been deputed to check the readiness of identified sites, while Duty Magistrates have been assigned the task to create lodgement centres/ langar sites for effective maintenance of the law and order situation. It was also given out that the administration has already tendered the works of 105 toilets at different points for the convenience of the pilgrims. The DDC stressed on making foolproof security arrangements and directed concerned officials to ensure mandatory installation of CCTVs at langar sites and other vital locations in the district, besides conduct round the clock patrolling. The DC also directed CMO Kathua to deploy well equipped medical teams at langar sites with standby provision of medical teams for lodgement centres for the convenience of yatris. XEN PHE, XEN PDD were directed to visit the langar sites and lodgement centres to make provision of power and drinking water supply. Nodal officers were directed to ensure adequate provision of parking at langar sites to avoid traffic congestion. Earlier, the DDC listened to the suggestions of social organizations and civil society members regarding required arrangements for the yatris. ADDC Kathua Puneet Sharma; ADC Atul Gupta; ASP Kathua Suresh Kumar; ACR Sandeep Seointra; ACD Kishore Singh Katoch; ACP Sohan Lal and other concerned officers were also present.
