Enforcement teams recover Rs 12500 fine from erring traders across Ramban


RAMBAN, APRIL 28 (RNA) : In view of ongoing Holy Ramadan & forthcoming festivals, the Department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, along with other enforcement agencies on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam today conducted a massive market checking drive here across the district. A joint team of officers of FCS&CA, Legal Metrology Department and Police carried out market checking drives in Banihal and Ukhral market and recovered Rs. 12500 as fine from defaulters. Various other enforcement teams also inspected markets in their jurisdictions and booked several erring shopkeepers found failing to maintain the quality of food items, not displaying rate lists of essential commodities, selling expiry products besides indulging in practices of illegal profiteering and sale of underweight products. They also destroyed spoilage fruits and vegetables. The shopkeepers, Dabawales and vendors were directed to maintain hygiene and quality of eatables and also ensure display of price list.
