Man held with 80 KG Poppy Straw

SAMBA, MAY 07 (RNA) : In its drive against drug smugglers & other perpetrators, District Police Samba has arrested a narcotics smuggler with 80 KG Poppy Straw (Bhukki) in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal. A Police Party of PS Ghagwal, while conducting vehicle checking duty near Naka Point Tapyal NHW, signalled a Mahindra Bolero Pickup without Registration Number to stop. On checking the Vehicle coming from Jammu side and moving towards Kathua side, police recovered 80 KG Poppy Straw packed in 80 polythene bags and concealed in the body modified for poultry purpose to avoid being checked by the Police. The accused has been identified as Mohammad Rafi S/o Fateh Mohamad R/o Panchhat Tehsil Panchhat District Kapurthala, Punjab has been arrested on the spot. The contraband, along with the vehicle, was seized on the spot. In this regard, a case FIR No. 69/2022 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Ghagwal and further investigation has been started.
