SC order on sedition Law historic: Congress

Srinagar May 12, 2022. The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Thursday hailed Supreme Court order of putting on hold the colonial era provision of Sedition in abeyance. JKPCC President Ghulam Ahmad Mir hailed the SC order of putting on hold sedition Law, terming it historic. the genuine voices and criticism against wrong policies of rulers cannot be repressed, Mir said JKPCC President said that putting sedition law in abeyance is a bold step in right direction. Nation can no longer follow the colonial era provisions nor it can afford suppressing the genuine voices under the garb of sedition law. There has been reports of abuse of sedition law on various occasions,putting the law in abeyance is bound to uphold the law of land, besides ensuring that criticism against the wrong policies wouldn’t be suppressed any more. JKPCC President added.
