DDC finalises convergence plan under Poshan Abhiyan in Rajouri

Asks for health checkup of all 43000 ICDS beneficiaries


RAJOURI, MAY 12 (RNA) : District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal today chaired a meeting to discuss and finalize the convergence plan under Poshan Abhiyan. Officers present in the meeting included ADDC, Pawan Kumar; ADC Nowshera, Sukhdev Singh Samyal; CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; SE Hydraulics, JP Singh; PO ICDS, Kartar Singh; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt and other concerned officers. The meeting was informed that 43000 children in the 0-6 year age group are presently enrolled in the Anganwari centres across the district. The DDC asked for the health check up of all the enrolled children by the medical teams to ascertain their health status and suggest remedies for deficiencies. The DC inquired about the institutional deliveries during the last year and asked the concerned officers to take the field staff on board to educate the public about the mother and child care available in the health institutions and other benefits. The DDC said that POSHAN Abhiyan was a flagship programme of the Government of India to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers. Underlining the objective behind the formulation of convergence plan under Poshan Abhiyan, he said that the plan aims to prevent and reduce under-nutrition and stunting in children, reduce the prevalence of anemia/other diseases among young children, women, adolescent girls and reduce the low birth rate. Stating that interdepartmental coordination is a must for the implementation of the Poshan Abhiyan, he asked the stakeholders to work in tandem for the successful and better implementation of the program on ground. The DDC also stressed on distribution of medicines like albendazole, iron and folic acid tablets among the beneficiaries
