NHM Staff Posted In Border Area Seeks Tranfer Policy

Ashfaq Lone Kupwara, May 17 (RNA) : The doctors and paramedics recruited under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and posted in border areas of Kupwara district on Sunday urged authorities to ensure their transfer on a rotational basis. Speaking to Rising Kashmir, the doctors and paramedics said they were posted under the welfare scheme (now NHM) and since then, they haven't been transferred from here. They said, "We are facing several problems as we are not being transferred despite the passing of several years, which has left us in distress." President, National Health Mission border areas, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, told Rising Kashmir that "some doctors and paramedics who were recruited in the year 2008 are still there, despite repeated requests to authorities for transfer, but to no avail.”. He said when they were recruited under NRHM, there were clear directions that there would be transformer policies in the department. However, later it was changed to NHM so the doctors and paramedics could be transferred. He lamented that "three people, including a physiotherapist and two lab technicians, have also died of depression in the border areas." The doctors and paramedics also said that authorities should look into the matter at the earliest and should frame a transfer policy for NHM employees. The health employees urged the Lieutenant Governor to intervene in the matter.
