Govt bans issuance of fresh wholesale drug licences in Kashmir
Non-Existing drug sale establishments also to be identified

Srinagar, July 04 ( RNA): In an ongoing crackdown on the drug mafia, the drug control departmemt has baned the fresh permissions for Wholesale licences from Saturday.
In a circular to all Assistant Drug Controllers of Kashmir vide Number DFO/K/Drug/1515-1534 dated 02-07-2019, the Deputy Controller Drugs, Kashmir division has asked all Assistant Drug Controllers of the Division, not entertain any application for issuance of fresh wholesale drug licences.
They have been also advised to conduct intensive inspections of the wholesale distributors and report non-existing drug sale establishments in their jurisdictions.
Meanwhile Deputy Director Drug Control Kashmir , Irfana Ahmad told RNA that they have a huge backlog of applications which need to be cleared first. She however, said that in the meantime the departmemt would begin a massive excercise to cancel the licences of Non- Exciting sale units also .
" We want to put checks and balances in the system. The backlog is also an issue and this will take almost five months to clear that." Miss Irfana told RNA
