J&K should get budgetary

J&K should get budgetary

support to finance 'back to village' program: Sajad Sheikh

Srinagar, July 06 (RNA): The Chief Spokesperson of Jammu Kashmir People's movement here on Saturday, in a press statement, said that people had high expectations from the recent budget but special needs of the J&K state have not been addressed so far.

Nirmala Sitharaman, the Finance Minister of India on Friday passed the Modi 2.0 government budget for the year 2019-20. As the country is hoping to reach $5 trillion economy in the next few years, people here in the state of Jammu and Kashmir are hoping that this budget will provide them much needed relief, keeping in view the recent scheme 'Back to Village'.

While advocating for the common citizens of state, Sheikh said that we hope the central govt has kept enough funds in this budget to meet the grievances of people here. The way people from far-flung areas have put forth their basic demands and development needs for their areas, it is hoped that all such demands will be adjusted immediately Sheikh argued.

Advocate Sajad Sheikh welcomed some people-friendly provisions in the Union Budget, which he said will have positive bearing on Kashmir and all places.

He remarked " This budget signals that government is on the path of making necessary changes towards digitalisation, bringing the regime of differentially taxing the super-rich and stringent provisions against non-compliance. The concern towards plantation, water and electricity makes it green budget which is a welcome sign . "

Although on some provisions Advocate Sajad Sheikh expressed disappointment,
he made it clear that not significantly increasing the budgetary provisions for minority welfare and senior citizens has been disappointing.

“The Budget was a huge disappointment for senior citizens, women and the working class and also the minorities as no significant increase in budget expenditure has been proposed for these critical areas . "
He also hoped that taxes on petrol and diesel won't badly impact the consuming economy of Kashmir. (RNA)
