Teacher's Forum elects District President for Bandipora


 Srinagar, July 09 ( RNA):Jammu& Kashmir Teachers' Forum has a firm belief that having regular and constant change among the office bearers at all the levels gives democracy a greater chance and opportunity to divulge power which otherwise would make the system corrupt.

Carrying forward the legacy of its faith in democracy, JKTF today held the election for District President, Bandipora. According to RNA, the process was set in motion almost a week before, by publicizing a notification as the term of the outgoing DP had expired. After scrutiny two candidates were found eligible for contest. The returning officer finalised the date and ultimately today, the 9th day of July 2019, the polling took place at Middle School Sumbal. Polling went for almost 4 hours and results were declared immediately after the closure of Poll. Mr Fayaz Ahmad Malik was elected as the new District President who won by a close margin of four votes. His contender, the former District President, Mr Ghulam Nabi Khan, and the incumbent were garlanded by all the State, Provincial, District and Zonal executives present on the occasion. Mr Malik reaffirmed his faith in the acendency and reiterated the fact that this selection has given him a responsibility to shoulder which he shall do with utmost sincerity and honesty. He pledged to work for the betterment and upliftment of the society in general and teacher fraternity in particular. Asked about his strategies for the future course of  action, Mr Malik said that he believed in the organisational hierarchy and could only comment once he seeks guidance from his higher-ups. The programme culminated with presentation of a certificate to the winning candidate by the Returning Officer. Meanwhile oath ceremony shall be notified soon. RNA
