SMC ignores complaints for conversion of residential house into Commercial complex in Rambagh,Srinagar

Locals aghast, seek Governor's Intervention , write letters to advisor , SMC

Srinagar, July 09 ( RNA): In an alleged  violation of rules, a local at Rambagh in Srinagar has reportedly attempted  to raise a commercial complex after attaining permission for re- construction of an existing residential house in the residential colony. The locals have raised objection and sought intervention of Governor Administration accusing ward officer of Srinagar Municipal Corporation and other staff for ignoring their objection. The local inhabitants of Mustafa Colony Rambah have alleged in their application to Advisor to Governor, that a local  has started the construction of a commercial building instead of the residential house for which he had obtained permission from the SMC under certain’ conditions. They alleged that he has neither left any fire gap as advised in the permission and design approved by the SMC, nor has he laid the ground work which would suggest that he was actually going to construction of residential house. The locals accused SMC ward officer of the area of being hand in glove with the ‘ violator’ and said that, they had approached him many times but he accused him of  deliberately ignoring their complaints possibly to provide ample time to the ‘ violate’ for raising the building . They said the SMC has a known practice of first deliberately allowing the ‘illegal’ structure to raise and then turn them legal and in the both process, huge money changes hands. The inhabitants of the locality have now approached advisor to Governor seeking intervention. They also accused the alleged ‘violator’ of resorting to encroachment of state land and urged government to take steps for retrieving the ‘encroached’ land.

Meanwhile Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation Khuesheed Ahamad Sanie told RNA that he will look into the matter.
“ I will definitely look into the matter. These kinds of violations can’t be tolerated.” Commissioner told RNA
