Kreeri SDH gets faulty X-Ray machine
BMO refuses to give clearance certificate as machine shows failure in resolution

Srinagar, July 14 (RNA): Amid growing outrage against the Non- availability of anti- rabies injections which is hurting the public immensely, another failure of health department administration has come to fore with authorities supplying a Non- Functional and faulty X- Ray machine costing nearly lakhs of rupees to Sub- district Hospital in Kreeri in district Baramulla. The machine which was delivered last week has shown very poor results prompting Block Medical officer to write to the higher authorities about the failure, which could cast shadow on the procurement process of the department. RNA has learnt from sources in the hospital that the fresh machine failed to produce desired result after it was put to trial following its installation last week.
“The resolution is very poor. This machine is good for nothing.” A doctor in the hospital who is not authorized to speak to media told RNA wishing anonymity. He said the staff was surprised to see the machine producing faulty resolutions.
The Block Medical Officer, Kreeri Dr. Javid Iqbal has refused to give certificate to the company which supplies the machine and has even written down his reservations on the installation report. The BMO’s refusal came after concerned X-Ray technician reported that machine was not working properly and had produced very poor resolutions indicating that the machine had some serious technical fault.
“As per, X-ray tech (technician), Mr. Ashfaq Husain Bhat, above X-ray plant installed but not functioning properly.” reads the Block Medical Officer, SDH Kreeri’s remarks on the Installation report of the company, a copy of which lies with RNA.
RNA has learnt from sources in the hospital that a technical team of the company was also called in to see if there was a minor problem with the installation or in handling the machine, but the team too could not fix the problem which – the sources said- was a clear proof that something was fishy with the procurement.
“When such machines involving huge sum of money are delivered to hospital, there must be many checks and balances first. I think, that has been overlooked in this case.” a sources in the hospital told RNA.
Another official told RNA that some additional system has been called by the technical team but added that, the same may reach to hospital in few months which means the machine won’t be functional till then which is likely to force patients to do the same in private clinics outside the hospital.
