Feroze Peerzada demands adequate compensation to the farmers affected by wind, hailstorm

Sopore, July 16 (RNA): Vice President Organisation Affairs JKPM, Feroze Peerzada on Tuesday has expressed deep concern over the massive damage of crops and properties caused due to heavy rains and hailstorm in Sopore and its adjoining areas.
In a statement, Feroze Peerzada said that heavy rains and hailstorm on Monday evening in Sopore and its adjacent areas has caused a massive damage to fruits, vegetables and crops. He has demanded compensation and exgratia relief in favour of the affected farmers, keeping in view colossal damages to their crops and fruit which is the main source of income to them.
Feroze Peerzada has urged the Hon’ble Governor and its administration for speedy and rapid assessment of the damages so that cases for release of adequate compensation to the affected are processed on war footing basis. He also urged the Horticulture and Agriculture departments for constituting committees for earliest assessment of the damages. He said that the fruit growers have already incurred huge losses due to restrictions of civilian traffic on national highway where fruit-laden trucks are halted for several days on the pretext of security to the Amar Nath pilgrims.
