ZEO B. K Pora refuses to sanction medical leave to female teacher despite Doctor’s advice

Srinagar, July 16 (RNA): In yet another instance of official apathy, the Zonal Education Officer B.K Pora in Budgam district has reportedly refused to allow a female teacher to stay back at home even after she was advised by doctor for a three day rest following medical emergency during her lecture on Monday. Syed Sameeah Bushra Teacher, PMS Magraypora , presently deployed at Hr. Secondary School B.K Pora had developed some medical complications during her lecture as in the 10 day IGNOU Workshop on Monday forcing her to approach to doctor who- according to the prescription- advised her to take rest for three days. The husband of Bushra , M. Ashraf told RNA that following the doctor’s advice she approached Zonal education officer B.K Pora on phone informing her about the condition but- according to him- the ZEO surprisingly refused to allow her to stay back at home and asked his wife to report to the study center immediately.
Mr. Ashraf further told RNA that since his wife was not in a position to move out of her home, therefore he personally approached the ZEO Office B.K Pora along with the leave application and medical prescription , however, ironically the staff present there refused to receive the application claiming, the ‘’receipt register’’ was under lock and key.
The desperate husband was further shocked when – according to him- the ZEO later in the evening served an explanation to Bushra along with some other teachers for remaining ‘ absent’ from the duty. He said that he had video recorded the refusal of ZEO staff to receive the leave application and has forwarded the same to Director School education Kashmir and Chief Education Officer Budgam , so that they also come know what the teachers like Bushra are subjected to in the lower offices.
Zonal Education Officer B.K Pora and Director School Education could not be reached for their word despite repeated attempts by RNA.
