Crores of GP fund and other bills pending in treasures

Delay in release create panic in employees, contractors and pensioners


Srinagar, July 19 (RNA): With no money in treasures, employees, pensioners and Contractors have been left high and dry as their GPF fund and other bills are gathering dust in treasures from last nearly one month. Scores of employees from Sumbal in district Bandipora told RNA that their GP Fund bills have been lying pending with treasury for want of payment from last one month. They added that the GPF was sought for meeting the expenses of marriages and other requirements whereas some had applied to meet out the expenses of Haj, but could not get it due to empty coffers. An employee told RNA that he had applied for the GP fund for the marriage of his daughter but non availability of funds has caused immense problems for him. Sources told RNA that GP Fund bills worth more than two crore rupees were lying pending for payment in Sumbal Treasury. They said besides the GP Fund, more than two crores rupees were pending of pensioners and contractors. ‘’We have borrowed loans form bank and are paying interest as our bulls are not being cleared.” contractors told RNA.
Meanwhile Treasury Officer Sumbal Fayaz Ahmad told RNA that they did not receive funds therefore could not clear the bills. (RNA)
