Mehbooba Warns Center against tinkering with 35-A

Says, fiddling with it was akin to playing with " dynamite"

Srinagar, July 28 (RNA): Launching a scathing attack on Center for what she said , "dis-empowering" the State of Jammu and Kashmir, People's Democratic Party President and former Chief Minster Mehbooba Mufti Sunday cautioned that any attempts to abrogate the special status of the state would have disastrous consequences. According to RNA, Mehbooba while addressing her party workers on the foundation day eve at Srinagar said that PDP would stand like a rock in the way of anyone trying to tinker with the Article 35-A. While asking her party workers not to loose courage if even she was put behind the bars, Mehbooba warned that anyone fiddling with the controversial article would face the heat.
" Anyone who tries to lay hand on article 35-A would be actually laying hand on dynamite which will not burn the hand only but also turn the whole body into ashes." Warned Mehbooba amid huge aplause from her workers. According to RNA reporter covering the event, the former Chief Minster also criticised National Conference Vice President and also a former Chief Minster Omar Abdullah for " bowing down" by saying that Supreme Court verdict on the article would be bound on them , and said " No fiddling with the article whatsoever would be acceptable to the people of Jammu and Kashmir."
She said only PDP would come out to protect it and said she wasn't afraid of any backlash even going behind the bars.
" These media-men would always say that if anyone goes to interview Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the only thing he would say, is " Talks". Even today I also say the same. Talks." Said Mehbooba , adding that neither her father nor she had amassed any wealth therefore she had nothing to offer or to loose. She however, added that her real treasure was her workers who came to the Srinagar venue on their own.
" Those who left the party were told that she doesn't have money. I have not ammased money. But my real treasure are you who came here despite I being not able to pay you even the bus fare." Mehbooba told the gathering. (RNA)
