Tourism academician Dr Riyaz Qureshi gets award in Maharashtra


Srinagar, July 28 (RNA): Renowned tourism academician and senior tourism faculty at Department of Management Studies, University of Kashmir was awarded the Best Faculty in Tourism Award at the first ever exclusive All India Hospitality Educators Award ceremony at A D Y Patil University Pune, Maharashtra. Recognizing his contribution and dedication towards tourism and hospitality education and research the organizing committee of the All India Hospitality Educators selected him for this prestigious award. The impressive award ceremony was held at Ajeenkya D Y Patil University Pune on Sunday July 28, 2019.
Dr Reyaz A Qureshi is a senior tourism academician and professional with a vast industry and academic experience. He is the recipient of Common Wealth Fellowship for his Doctorate in Tourism Management with specialization in Destination Planning and Development. He has served Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir for more than a decade. In year 2010 he joined academics as a faculty and served as founder coordinator of Tourism & Hospitality Management Programme at University of Kashmir, Srinagar. He is the member of number of national committees constituted for the development of curriculum for Tourism and Travel Management Programme by CBSE, NCERT, AICTE and UGC and number of committees constituted by ministry of tourism GOI & Govt. of J&K for the planning, development and promotion of tourism. He is the member of the National Mentor Council for Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Sector constituted by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India for designing the syllabus and curriculum for the technical institutions including ITI`s , Polytechnic Colleges of India. He is a renowned researcher and has presented more than sixty research papers in international and national conferences and seminars in India and abroad. These research papers had been published in renowned international journals and edited books. He is the guest faculty of number of prestigious tourism institutions in India and abroad and has supervised more than a dozen research scholars for Mphill and PhD programs in tourism & Hospitality management. In connection with his research and professional responsibilities he has visited more than 34 countries so far. Presently he is serving as a senior faculty member in Tourism and Hospitality Management programme in the Department of Management Studies, University of Kashmir and is the Secretary of Indian Tourism and Hospitality Congress (ITHC) North Indian Chapter.
