PHE lineman dies after altercation with local in Handwara, accused arrested

Cause of death still unknown, as family lodges FIR for " murder"


Srinagar, July 29 (RNA): A PHE lineman has died after an altercation with a local at sarmarg,Lachampora in Handwara . Though PHE departmemt is still gathering the evidence that led to the death of their lineman, the family has approached Police for registering a case for "murder".
Sources in the PHE , Handwara told RNA, that the lineman Gh. Mohammad Lone along with his colleagues had gone to the area to fix a leakage of a main line on Saturday afternoon, where a local Farooq Ahmad wanted him not to fix his connection following which both entered into heated arguments. The sources said that , the lineman fell unconscious following which he was shifted to SDH Handwara wherefrom he was referred to Srinagar where he died later.
Executive Engineer PHE , Mir Najeeb told RNA that he has called both the linemen -who were on spot along with Mir - to office so that a detailed report is prepared for further action . He said the family of the lineman has also moved to Police to lodge FIR and after detailed report, the departmemt would also take necessary action.
" This is very unfortunate incident. We are gathering evidence as what actually happened on the spot . I have called both the employees who were with him that time, to office to know what actually happened there." Executive Engineer told RNA.
Meanwhile SHO Handwara Parvaiz Ahmad told RNA that the " Postmortem" of the deadbody would be undertaken a short while from now after which the actual cause of death would be established. He however, said that the accused has been arrested after the son of the line man lodged an FIR with the police station .
" We have arrested the accused and FIR has been lodged by the Son of the slain person. The doctors would be conducting postmortem in a short while from now." SHO told RNA. (RNA)
