PDP, PC put identity of state in peril by opening doors for communal forces in the state: Tanvir Sadiq

Says PDP’S agenda of alliance sowed seeds of what is happening right now in state

Srinagar, July 29 (RNA): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Monday said the that it was PDPs agenda of alliance that sowed the seeds of what is happening right now in the state, saying PDP,PC combine have put the identity of the state on peril by opening doors for communal forces.

Addressing a meet of party functionaries, workers at Lal Bazar in Zadibal constituency party’s senior leader, political advisor to vice president said that it was PDP which pushed the state to chaos by allying with BJP. “PDP which had sought mandate of people to keep BJP out during the campaign trail of 2014 assembly elections took no time to club an alliance with the same BJP. The cobbling of alliance was no less than a colossal blunder. Moreover when sharing the power with BJP, PDP chose to put on blinkers for the sake of power. They sacrificed our fiscal autonomy for ascending the altar of power. Now they have the gumption to say that they will protect the same autonomy. How could they do it now, when they couldn’t do it when in power? At that time it had closed its eyes and ears to the mounting miseries of people,” he said.

Tanvir said while enjoying power with BJP, Mehbooba had no concern for state’s identity, “No gimmickry or passing the blame can help her gain the confidence of people. She has lost it for all times,” he said.

Tanvir said Mehbooba stands no chance to absolve her from the torments she unleashed on the people of Kashmir. “Her assertions look like post dated cheques of a falling bank. Had PDP president and the Ex-Chief minister shed tears when our youth were devoured upon in 2016, it would have had any impact. One may inquire from her as to where was her concern for people when the people of Kashmir were subjected to worst of human rights violations. It was during her tenure that people were used as human shield; where her sympathy and empathy was for those who were blinded, bruised during her tenure. People are the good judge of character of her and stint in power,” he said.

He said the promises made by Mufti’s and PDP on the protection of our special status stand no ground. “They were the one who implemented SARFESI, NFSA, and GST in the state. They were the one who brought NIA to state. They failed to deliver on every promise they made in the run up for elections in 2014. We didn’t saw them repeal AFSPA; on the contrary they slashed PSA on thousands of our youngsters, most of whom are still languishing in jails. She failed miserably on every matrix; she failed to protect state’s status, she failed to provide jobs and above all she pushed the state into chaos and conflict. It was south Kashmir that bore the brunt of her imprudent policies. They are the ones who provided platform to BJP-RSS in the state,” he said.

Ridiculing Mehbooba’s undertaking of protecting Art 370, Art 35 A, Tanvir said, “Today we see Mehbooba pledging to protect the state’s special status given the fact that she was the one who did much damage to it during her stint as chief minister. We saw NFSA, SARFESI and GST being implemented in the state in her tenure. Today our people are hankering for basic edibles including sugar, who is responsible for it? Every commodity has become dearer; every commodity is subject to heavy taxations. Who is responsible for breaking the back of small and marginal artisans, hoteliers, and other traders? We didn’t? It was she who took many cataclysmic decisions when she was in power. Every single sector of our state is ailing today be it tourism, horticulture and handicrafts. People still remember how she mocked the miseries of families who lost their kids in 2016 with her ‘milk and toffee’ comments. It was she who had barefacedly said that the guns of security persons are not for mere display but action.” (RNA)
