SSP rank officer of J&K Police applies for voluntary retirement


Srinagar, July 30 (RNA): In a significant development, a senior Police Officer has applied for voluntary retirment from services. Sources told RNA that Firdous Iqbal (SSP) presently posted as Commandant in Armed Battalion has formally written to Director General of Police requesting for sanction to VRS. This is probably for the first time in recent history of J&K Police that an officer of SSP rank has opted for VRS. Firdous Iqbal is a KPS officer of 1999 batch who has worked in different capacities including as Regional Passport Officer Kashmir. He remained passport officer Kashmir for record period of five years.
Iqbal has under his belt National prize for achieving high standards of passport service delivery to citizens during 13-14 from EAM GOI. He was presented the award by then Foreign Minster Sushma Swaraj.
Besides a decorated Police Officer, Iqbal has been an intellectual who has the privalage If presenting papers in All india police science Congress at Gujarat & one published in police science Congress at Gowhati. He Was also a delegate at police Science Congress Bangalore besides Presenting paper at BPR& D conclave.
According to RNA, he Was also a member of Indian delegation of cross LoC trade at Islamabad Pakistan & New Delhi.

Despite repeated Attempts by RNA, Firdous Iqbal could not be reached for his word. (RNA)
