Police arrests bootlegger in Sopore; Illicit liquor recovered

Srinagar, April 11 (RNA) : Acting tough against the social crimes, police have arrested a bootlegger in Sopore and recovered illicit liquor from his possession. A police party headed by SHO PS Sopore under the supervision of SDPO Sopore at a checkpoint at Shalpora near graveyard, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK04B-959. During search of the vehicle, 24 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from three bags inside the vehicle. The accused diver has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Nabi Ganie resident of Sangrampora Sopore. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 83/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation has been taken up. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding anti-social elements in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in anti-social activities will be dealt as per law.
