Health Deptt begins enrolment drive for left-out PMMVY beneficiaries


 JAMMU, DECEMBER 23(RNA): A seven-day door to door campaign on enrolment of left-out beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) was inaugurated by Mission Director ICDS, J&K Shabnam Shah Kamili here.

The campaign has been organized in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare; Mission Director ICDS, J&K and it will culminate on December 28, 2019.

The inaugural ceremony was organised by the Child Development Project Officer ICDS, Satwari and it was attended by the Chief Medical Officer Jammu Dr. Danish Ayub Khan, Block Medical Officers, CDPOs, ICDS Supervisors, Anganwadi Workers, Anganwadi Helpers and ASHA Workers.

The event was also attended by the (PRI) members including Sarpanchs and Urban ward councillors of Satwari area.

The enrolment drive initially started in District Jammu and it shall be launched across the UT of J&K up to January 15, 2019.  

Under the scheme, the Government of India is providing maternity benefit of Rs 6000/- to each pregnant lady. While Rs. 5000/- are paid for the first child by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the remaining Rs. 1000/- is paid under Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) run by the National Health Mission.

For smooth identification of the left-out pregnant ladies, Directorate of National Health Mission has provided a list of pregnant ladies registered on the National Health Portal, which will be identified by the Anganwadi workers during the enrolment campaign w.e.f 23rd to 28th December 2019.

The Mission Director ICDS, Shabnam Shah Kamili urged the officers/officials of the ICDS Department to work in coordination with the officers/officials of Health Department as the PMMVY and JSY schemes are running under convergence with the Department of Health and Family Welfare.

She also urged the PRI members to assist the field officers/officials especially the Anganwadi Workers to track down the left out beneficiaries and ensure their enrolment in the PMMVY Scheme.

She highlighted the objectives of the scheme, saying such schemes make a difference for common people. She further requested the general public particularly PMMVY beneficiaries to approach the concerned Anganwadi Centres for their registration under the norms and guidelines of the scheme.
