J&K Congress strongly reacts to new domicile law

J&K Congress strongly reacts to new domicile law

Seeks N.E hilly states status to J&K

Jammu , April 02 (RNA):  Congress has strongly reacted to the new domicile provision inserted late yesterday in the matter of recruitment to govt jobs in the UT of J&K and termed it as a cruel joke with rights of local youth to the jobs and another betrayal of BJP with the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a statemenr to RNA, State Congress Chied  G.A Mir while reacting to the notification issued late last night, after several months of rhetorical statements by the government and BJP leaders promising the youth of J and K to protect their rights in the jobs and assuring them time and again that abrogation of special status would in no way affect their rights and open more opportunities to jobs, said that the youth feels largely betrayed now by the BJP,  with cat now out of the bag.
He said that the youth of J&K had been striving for the protection of their exclusive rights over jobs post abrogation of the special status of the  erstwhile state but everytime they were being hoodwinked on the assurances that their rights to jobs shall be equally protected besides their shall be large scale opportunities of jobs in the govt and private sector.
He said that when the entire country is passing through a strict lockdown to prevent the spread of COVID 19, once again the govt has issued a notification which is totally unacceptable to the youth of J&K and would deprive them of valuable rights to jobs in the govt sector. He said that govt sector jobs were the only opportunities to the local youth of J&K in view of   non-existence private sector due to disturbed conditions here but now major portions of jobs would go to outside candidates.
He said the youth of J&K especially those of Jammu region was shown a rousy picture post abrogation of special status and disbanding of state and were told their rights to jobs shall not be affected and rather lot of jobs would be created in private sector. He said now all the gazetted and higher posts would go to the new Cadre for which all shall be eligible but for inferior posts of level four, would also be shared by the local with outsiders eligible under new provisions. This worries the local youth most and he feels cheated, he added.
Shri Mir reiterated the demand that the rights of the local youth to govt jobs should be fully protected besides rights to land under some constitutional guarantees. He favoured a special status under schedule six of the constitution of India on the pattern of seven hilly North Eastern states.
He said that the Jammu and Kashmir too is hilly region of the country with large boundaries as borders /LOC and different cultures and diversity with distinct aspirations as well other relevant factors which qualify it to be treated as a special region in the country like Northern States, with restoration of the statehood status.
