DDC Polls to bridge the local admin with political dispensation: Basharat Bukhari

Kick starts door to door campaign for PAGD candidate in Wagoora


Srinagar, Nov 23 (RNA): With last date for withdrawing the nominations for third phase having expired on Friday, the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) Sunday launched a massive door to door campaign in Wagoora Constituency where the alliance has fielded National Conference candidate Shaheena Begum against Apni Party’s Nasreena Firdous and two other independent candidates.
The campaign for the alliance candidate was led by former minster and local MLA Syed Basharat Bukhari and constituency in-charge Mohammad Yaqoob Wani, who along with scores of workers visited several villages in the lower belt of Wagoora block seeking support for the alliance.
During his interaction with the voters, Mr. Bukhari while emphasizing the importance of the DDC polls said that these polls were for development and would establish a bridge between the local administration and the political dispensation. He outlined the huge infrastructural and institutional development in the area during the last nine years of his tenure till the middle of the 2018 as MLA of the area till said, that many mega developmental projects were in the pipe line at the time of collapse of the government in 2018.
He in his public address at waripora Payeen, Frasthar, waripora, sheikhpora and other hamlets said, that during the last nine and a half years, the area was transformed into a developmental hub with a wide range of road infrastructure, both state and centrally funded water supply schemes, Bridges, Irrigation facilities, Flood management projects, Agriculture and horticulture developmental schemes, Tourism related infrastructure particularly the Tourist Circuit connecting kandi with the Wular Lake to name a few. He said the projects were aimed to not only bring ease of life to the common man irrespective of his political affiliations, but also promote the much need economic progress in the area.
According to the former minster, the sangrama constituency -of which Wagoora Block is a constituent-, has attained huge attention of the people from across the country owing to its development and progress.
While referring to the visit of Central Government delegation on health to the area a few years back, the NC leader said, the state of the art Sub District Hospital in Kreeri was a huge attraction for the delegation.
The former minster also referred to the official observation report regarding the water supply schemes and its related infrastructure in the area and said, even the incumbent dispensation was all for praises for the work the constituency has witnessed during his stint as MLA and minster. He however, regretted for not doing more in the remaining three years of his term as MLA due to sudden collapse of the government and said he lost three important years of development. He added that he had scores of new developmental projects in mind and had been working on many of them but the removal of government left them mid way.
While urging people to vote for the NC candidate Shaeena Begum, Mr. Bukhari said, that the DDC elections were all for development and voting her in the development council would link what he as MLA and minster has done for the constituency in the past and what needs to be done in future. RNA
