Drug deptt officers pay surprise visit to Handwara markets
25 retail & 05 Wholesale drug establishments checked

Srinagar, Apr 27 (RNA): Pursuant upon the directions from State Drugs Controller & Deputy Drugs Controller Irfana Ahmad, today as on 27.04.2024 a team of Drug Control officers Namely Farooz Ahmad Bhat, DCO Sopore/Pattan/Tangmarg & Youssouf Mohiuddin DCO Kupwara/Handwara headed by Assistant Drugs Controller Baramulla/ Kupwara - Dr. Zaffer Ahmad Bhat paid surprise inspections in Villagam area and Main market Tehsil Handwara.
Around 25 retail drug sale establishments and 05 wholesale establishments were throughly checked with regard to maintanance of records of NRX drugs, Installation of CCTV cameras and adoption of Computerized billing.
Also cctv footage of several shops was checked randomly to assertain different parameters while running of shops. During inspections it was found that most of the chemist shops had followed the directions. However the operation of 05 retail medical shops namely Prime Medicate, War Medicate and Al- Furkan Medicate at Handwara & Skyline Medicate, Wani Medicate situated at Villagam Handwara were disallowed on spot for different violations of the Act. Later-on an awareness was given on site regarding growing addiction among youth in Handwara and the need of hour to shift to digital mode of billing.
