Prevailing Flood like scenario must be declared as " Natural Disaster" : Javid Baigh

Srinagar, Apr 30 (RNA): Urging Government to declare the prevailing Flood like situation in Kashmir as " Natural Disaster", National Conference leader and former MLA Baramulla Javid Hassan Baigh has demanded launching of immediate relief and rehabilitation process in the affected areas.
Speaking to RNA over the phone, the former legislator said that the Government has huge funds in Disaster Management and declaring the current weather vagaries as " Natural Disaster" would allow the state and Central Government to unlock those funds for undertaking relief and rehabilitation process at a larger scale.
He said, scores of areas and families have been affected by landslides , flood like situations in various parts of the valley which needs to be addressed immediately. He also urged the government to press for proper implementation on Travel advisories and said that no transport should be allowed on the roads where the apprehension of landslides was imminent.
Mr. Baigh also demanded that people stuck in Jammu due to road blockage should be immediately reached out and added Government should not wait for people to approach them , instead they should reach out to them in the first place in order to provide them help in these times of distress.
