Sajad Lone visits flood prone areas of Kupwara

Says will take the issue of domestic & horticultural losses with LG Admin


 Srinagar, April 30 (RNA) : Peoples Conference President, Sajad Lone, undertook an extensive visit to the flood-affected areas of Kupwara today, witnessing firsthand the devastating impact of flash floods on local communities.

 
The Party President visited various flood-affected areas like Bungam via routes passing through Younis, Kultoora, Pohruphet, Medical College Chowgul, Vodhpura, Kawari, Jagerpora, Bramree, Matipora Drugmulla, Mughalpora and Shartwari Nagri encompassing Langate, Handwara, Trehgam and Kupwara constituencies.
 
Expressing deep sorrow over the significant losses incurred by residents due to the adverse weather conditions, Mr. Lone emphasized the urgent need for comprehensive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of those living in vulnerable zones.
 
In a press statement, Mr. Lone underscored the gravity of the situation, characterizing it as a natural disaster that demands swift and decisive action from the administration.
 
He called upon the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to expedite relief efforts and deploy assessment teams to evaluate the extent of damages suffered by the affected populace.
 
"The situation is dire," remarked Mr. Lone during his assessment of the affected areas. "Communities in Kupwara are reeling from the impact of relentless rainfall, with many families displaced and homes and buildings inundated by floodwaters. It is imperative that the government allocate sufficient resources for timely relief and rehabilitation efforts."
 
Mr. Lone urged the authorities to prioritize the provision of adequate compensation to affected individuals and families, acknowledging the urgent need for financial assistance to facilitate their recovery process.
 
"I urge the concerned authorities to take cognizance of the losses suffered, especially in the horticulture sector that exceed the limits set by the current SDRF norms. I will personally take up this issue with the LG led Administration for prompt relief to the affected."
 
Additionally, he called upon members of the Peoples Conference to extend unwavering support to the affected communities and collaborate closely with government agencies to address their immediate needs.
