J-K: Hizbul militant, linked to BJP leader’s murder, killed in encounter

Jammu, Jan. 15 ( RNA): In a major success. forces have killed a top Hizbul Mujahideen Commander in hilly district of Doda. The Slain Millitant has been Identified as Haroon Abass Wani and is said to be involved In the killing of a BJP leader In Kishtawar last year . SSP Doda Mumtaz Ahmad told RNA that Wani was Killed during an encounter Wednesday morning after forces laid a seig in Gundana Village Tuesday evening which triggered the Gunbattle.He added that Wani was involved in multiple militancy related cases in Kishtawar . According to SSP, Wani had gone missing from Jammu in Nov 2018 and has a miSSING FIR registered against him in Trikuta Nagar Police Station.
Haroon, a close associate of the Hizbul Mujahideen commander Jahangir Saroori, one of the longest surviving militant in the UT, was wanted by police and security in connection with the killing of senior BJP leader Anil Parihar and an RSS functionary Chanderkant Sharma among four people, besides some incidents of weapon snatching in Kishtwar.
