Hailstorm damages standing crops, fruits in Tangmarg areas

GCDC President seeks relief package


Srinagar, May 09 (RNA): The hailstorm has wreaked havoc in various parts of Tangmarg in Baramulla district this afternoon. Locals said that the weather vagaries has damaged the standing crops and fruits to a large extent in many villages of the area.
The Gulmarg Constituency Development Committee President Nazir Ahmad Qadri has said that the Horticulture and Agriculture sectors in the area have taken a major hit as the standing crops and other fruits have damaged to a large extent in most of the Tangmarg areas. Qadri said that the farmers and growers were already under immense pressure due to ongoing COVID lockdown and the fresh damage to the crops would bring more distress to them. He appealed UT government to provide relief to the affected farmers and orchardists immediately so that they are not subjected to further stress and anxiety.

Meanhile similar kind of damages to crops and fruits have been reported from other areas of North Kashmir also.RNA
