J&K BOSE to switch over to CBSE pattern of examinations from this fall

Motive behind the move to make students more competitive: Chairperson

Srinagar, May 14 (RNA): Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education has switched over to Central Board of School Education (CBSE) pattern for the this year’s annual examination of 12th standard students. The board has issued a notification stating that the examination for the said class would be conducted as per CBSE pattern for 2019-20 sessions. Pertinently all government run schools and most of the private schools in Jammu and Kashmir have been adopting board’s own pattern of examination.
The director Academics in the BOSE, in a notification said that the pattern and the design of the question papers has been modified and the new question paper will now be framed taking into consideration the parameters with analytical approach, critical thinking and objectivity etc on the analogy of the Central Board of School Education (CBSE) for the Annul Regular Examination scheduled to be held in the October-Number 2020.
Meanwhile Chairperson Board of School Education, Veena Pandita told RNA that same has already been done for class 11th. She said the BOSE was framing the examination papers as per its own policy from last several years, but it has been observed that the students from the UT were facing difficulties in competing with students outside J&K, therefore it was decided to adopt the CBSE pattern of examinations.
“We had our own set of rules and pattern for framing the examination papers here, but we observed that our students were facing difficulties in competing with the students outside J&K in the competitive exams, so we have decided to adopt the CBSE pattern for examinations from this session.” Veena Pandita told RNA, adding that the model papers for the same were available on the website of the BOSE.
