PMGSY fails to construct road and bridge in Muqamipeeran Uri
Locals appeals the governor administration for intervention

Baramulla, June 01 ( RNA) : Despite spending huge amount on various developmental works, the condition of some roads in border town of Uri is in shambles and the department of PMGSY is in deep slumber due to which locals of these villages are suffering badly.
During dry spell,-as the locals narrate- the dust engulfs these villages whereas in rainy days , roads leading to Muqamipeeran and its adjacent villages turn into muddy drain making it extremly difficult for people to walk on it.
They said that, if some person falls sick the villagers have to carry him/her on their shoulder to take them to the nearest health care centre which is some kilometers away from their village as the roads are in bad condition.
People living in the villages of Uri town are facing tremendous problems, adding in the year 2018-19, the department of Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Youjna (PMGSY), at an estimated cost of 154.06 lacs was supposed to be utilized on various developmental projects including road, sources informed.
However Sarpanch, Halqa Muqamipeeran, Muneer Khan told RNA that a road connecting from Muqampiran to Pathribal is in a shambles, there is a stream like a river that is floating from Nilsar area of Mayan that cuts the Road in the center and due to the negligence and inefficiency of the PMGSY officials they have failed to construct a bridge/culvert at the same spot.
“From past one month the road is closed and we spoke to the concerned authorities, according to them due to continuous lockdown they cannot do anything, adding Lal Pani link to Mayan and Kathal, road is closed as at many places, land sliding occurred, Khan aggrieved.
He said, even in the recent past, two deaths occurred here, after which we took them on stretchers, no vehicle passes here, the villages are risking their lives every time they cross the stream and due to which population suffers badly.
Nazir Ahmad, another local resident of the area have accused the PMGSY department for their negligence, as there remains heavy flow of gushing water that could cause an untoward incident, locals told early times.
He said that, the non-seriousness of the administration in repairing the roads is posing a grave risk to the lives of patients who travel towards hospitals besides it has affected the normal life and people refrain from travelling through this road.
Inhabitants of these villages have requested the governor administration to direct the authorities concerned for construction of Bridge/Culvert on war footing basis so that the deprived villagers may not suffer any more.
Meanwhile, RNA tried to contact the officials concerned, but their mobile phones were either switched off or not reachable.
