POONCH, SEPTEMBER 30: A panel headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, Dr. Basharat Hussain today held a public hearing for Minor Mineral mining in Block no.8 here at village Degwar.
 
 The project envisages mining of sand over 6.9 hectare area of the Batar River bed.
 
On the occasion, locals raised various points including, early completion of Minor Mineral Mining Process, accruing of benefits of the project to the local unemployed youth, strict check on illegal mining and other issues related to the conservation of the river.
 
The Environmental Consultation Committee briefed the public about the proposed mining and disseminated the necessary awareness about over extractions of minor minerals on the ecosystem.
 
Divisional Officer Pollution Control Committee Mukesh Bali; Representative of Regional Director Pollution Control Committee, Anupum Koul; Field Officer / Scientist of PCC Poonch Naseem Shah; District Mining Officer (DMO) Pooncn Javid Ahmed, PRI members and other officers/officials of Pollution Control Committee were present at the public hearing.
