Massive Cleanliness Drive launched across Bandipora District
 
Bandipora, October 08: As Part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsov and to commemorate the 152nd Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a massive cleanliness drive has been launched across Bandipora district by different departments. 
 
The special cleanliness drive was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora on October 02 - the 152n birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. 
 
As per the calendar prepared by the district administration, the department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs launched the cleanliness drive in their respective offices on Thursday.
 
 Assistant Director FCS&CA Bilal Ahmad said the department launched sanitation drive at all ration deposit, Fair Price Shops and it's offices besides launching sanitation drive at all seed stores of the district. He said the employees also cleaned their offices, premises and vicinity besides launching an awareness programme urging the people to ensure cleanliness . He said school children from various schools also participated in the drive. 
 
The department of Rural Development Department also launched cleanliness drive under clean India programme thereby cleaning the Panchayats and other RDD assets and public places. 
 
Officials said the department conducted cleanliness drive of water bodies in villages, removed garbage from public places, cleaned public parks, play fields and other public places including religious places. Special Gram Sabhas were also held wherein participants were sensitized about the importance of cleanliness. 
 
The department of Education also launched cleanliness drive in their respective schools. Students and teachers jointly during the programme conducted cleanliness of their schools and vicinity and urged people to keep their surroundings clean. An innovative idea of disseminating a message of cleanliness was adopted by Govt Primary School collie Mohal Authwatto were students replicated *Dandi March* lead by a student artist dressed like Bapu and holding a stick. The students marched in the village removing garbage attracting a large gathering. Locals also joined the March and removed garbage from the roadsides. 
 
 Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad said the month long activities will continue through out the month. He urged the officers to ensure cleanliness in their offices and in their respective areas . He said a month long calendar has been drafted for cleanliness. He said during the month, not only the cleanliness drives will be launched but sensitization and awareness programmes will also be launched among the masses. He said the focus is on the proper disposal of the solid waste, use of dust bins and avoid littering waste on road sides.
