8 Lambardars / Chowkidars dismissed in Anantnag

Anantnag 23 April (RNA): Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla (IAS) ordered the immediate dismissal of 7 lumberdars and 1 chowkidar of Tehsils Anantnag and Bijbehara today. The lumberdars / chowkidars were found to be involved in encroachment of State / Kahcharie land.
Dr Singla said that there had been reports regarding land grabbing by lumberdars / chowkidars and taking cognizance of these reports action in the matter has been initiated. Advocating a no non – sense approach, he said that persons who fail to deliver to their assigned tasks and whose actions are counterproductive to public interest will be taken to task as per law.
As per the order issued, the lumberdars / chowkidars instead of protecting State / Kahcharie land were found to be themselves involved in illegal grabbing on land causing loss to state exchequer.
It is in place to mention that Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir had issued direction for dismissal of such lumberdars / chowkidars who were found involved in land grabbing of State / kahcharie land.
The concerned Tehsildars have been directed to take necessary action regarding appointment of substitutes.
