Govt least bothered to safeguard the interests of Kashmiri artist community: waheed Jeelani

Srinagar,July 9(RNA): Waheed Jeelani, Artist, social-cultural activist & member National Conference, has expressed his serious concern over the deterioration of rich cultural landscape of the state due to govt.’s deliberate negligence and its least priority with regard to promotion and preservation of art, culture of the state, problems and interests of performing artist community of the state.

In a statement to RNA , he said that the
only state cultural institution, academy of art culture and languages is headless since more than three months now, has turned as a stumbling block in day to day activities and policy decisions of the institution. This institution is in shambles which has increased miseries of the artists further. As the President of State Academy of Art, Culture & Languages the Governor  Satya Paul Malik must take immediate steps to get the things right on track by appointing an appropriate and well versed person as its secretary for the smooth functioning of this prestigious institution, Waheed Jeelani demanded.

I would request to administration that special attention may be given to the revival of cultural activities in the state, particularly in Kashmir through its various departments like cultural academy, tourism department, floriculture and ministry of culture govt. of Jammu and Kashmir.

In order to safeguard the present & the future of respected, creative professionals & performing artists, the administration must prioritize to take up the issue of DD Kashir and all other defunct institutions like, I.C.C.R and N.Z.C.C with central govt. for strengthening of overall cultural scenario in the state, Jeelani further added.
