District Administration Kupwara Organizes Awareness Camp on PM-SYM


Kupwara, July 12 (RNA): District Administration Kupwara today organized a awareness programme on Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan (PM-SYM) Yojana at Kupwara. The programme was chaired by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara Anshul Garg (IAS), wherein among others Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Farooq Ahmad Baba, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Civil Society members, Senior Citizens, Chairman and Members of Trade Federation Kupwara and huge gathering of participants was witnessed in the programme.

 

ADC gave a brief information regarding the scheme and said that the scheme will provide monthly pension to the employees of unorganized sector after 60 years of age. The unorganised workers mostly engaged as home based workers, street vendors, mid-day meal workers, head loaders, cobblers, rickshaw pullers, landless labourers, agricultural workers, construction workers, handloom workers, and similar other occupations whose monthly income is Rs 15,000/ per month or less and belong to the entry age group of 18-40 years.

 

On the occasion DDC emphasized on concerned authorities for disseminating awareness about the scheme, so that no genuine worker is left out. DDC said that about 5000 unemployed youths have been registered in the period of last three under the scheme. He said that the beneficiaries should get registered at nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) and beneficiaries can also contact Village Level Entrepreneur (VLE) to get fully informed about the scheme.

DDC also said that the role of civil society in ensuring a proactive and participatory administration sought their cooperation in dealing with vital issues of public importance. He assured that all the important issues with special focus on maintaining accountable and transparent administration at all levels, will get focus attention of district administration. (RNA)
