Key PDP leaders give miss to Mehbooba's Foundation Day celebrations

Major overhaul of the party Likely before assembly polls

Srinagar, July 28 (RNA): With huge number of workers braving the bad weather turning up to the Srinagar venue for Foundation Day Celebrations, the joy and confidence on PDP President Mehbooba Mufti's face was vivid and clear, as she and her colleagues would be taking it as a revival of their party amid multiple waves of revolut and dessent. But what must be pinching her even after receiving an overwhelming number of party workers, could be the conscipicous absence of many of her key leaders from the mega show.
The absence of many important leaders from the convention was yet another indication that the rebillion within the Mehbooba's camp was not over . What has made it even more worse was the absence of PDP Patron Muzaffar Hussain Beigh who is said to be camping in New Delhi and has chosen to stay back instead of flying to Srinagar for the all important convention. However, Beigh was not the only leader who skipped the Foundation Day Celebeeations. Many other senior leaders including former misnters Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Nayeem Akhter , Ab. Haq Khan, two Rajya Sabha members Mir. Fayaz Ahmad, Nazir Ahmad Laway, Safeena Beigh, Saif ud Din , Mohammad Yasir Reshi, etc, also did not show up to express solidarity with Mehbooba.
Sources in the party told RNA that not turning up to the venue has made it clear that these leaders were not with the leadership hence a tough stance from Mehbooba can not be ruled out in next few days.
If sources in the former ruling party are to be believed, Mehbooba Mufti may announce some crucial decisions in next few weeks and may even revamp party altogether.
Pertinently she has already dissolved the powerfull Political Affairs Committee of the PDP and the next step could be to go hard on some leaders showing disrespect to the party leadership.
A senior leader of the party wishing anonymity told RNA that , the party leadership was contemplating a major overhaul of the party before the assembly elections and it was now evident that many new and young faces may be given a key role in the party affairs. (RNA)
