Farooq Abdullah led NC delegation meets Prime Minister Modi

Urged PM to let the sub-judice matters be settled by courts and others by elected Government: Omar Abdullah


Srinagar, Aug 01 (RNA): The three member delegation of National Conference led by its president and Parliament member Dr. Farooq Abdullah Thursday met with prime Minster Narendra Modi. The senior Abdullah was accompanied by his son and former Chief Minster Omar Abdullah and Lok Sabha member Justice Hasnain Masoodi. Soon after the meeting, Omar Abdullah took to micro blogng site Twitter saying, the delegation urged Prime Minster to hold assembly elections in the state befre the onset of the winter. He said that the delegation also discussed the current situation of the valley and impressed upon the Prime Minster that no ‘precipitous steps of any sort should be taken that may result in situation in the state, particularly in the valley, worsening. He thanked PM for meeting the delegation and said the meeting was held in cordial atmosphere.
“I accompanied @JKNC_ President Dr Farooq Abdullah Sb & Hon MP Justice Masoodi Sb to a meeting with Hon @PMOIndia this morning. During the course of the meeting we briefed Modi Sb about our assessment of the current situation in the state.
We requested him that no precipitous steps of any sort should be taken that may result in situation in the state, particularly the valley, worsening. We specifically asked him to let subjudice matters be settled by the courts & other matters be settled by an elected government.
Dr Abdullah Sb reminded the Hon PM that J&K has been without an elected government for well over a year now and requested him to take all necessary steps to facilitate the @ECISVEEP’s conduct of assembly polls before the onset of winter.
