Ganderbal to have Electoral Literacy Clubs

Srinagar, Dec 27 ( RNA) : -Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Hashmat Ali Khan who is also the District Election Officer(DEO) today chaired a meeting regarding the establishment of Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs) in Degree Colleges/ITIs/Educational Institutions across district Ganderbal.
Among others the meeting was attended by ADC Ganderbal Farooq Ahmad Baba, Dy. District Election Officer Ganderbal, Chief Education Officer Ganderbal, Principal Polytechnic College Ganderbal, Dy. Chief Education Officer Ganderbal, Superintendent, ITI Ganderbal/Kangan, ZEOs and all ZPEOs.
During the meeting, the DEO urged for the establishment of ELCs in all the educational institutes of District Ganderbal by or before 28th Feb, 2020.
The main objective of ELCs is to mainstream the electoral literacy among the future and new electors.
The DEO said that requisite funds for the establishment of these ELCs will be placed at the disposal of respective institutes in due course of time for making necessary arrangements regarding establishment of these ELCs and procurement of the necessary resource material.
The DEO further laid stress on the appointment of Nodal Officer per ELC who will chart out the schedule of the ELC activities in their respective jurisdiction and will keep close liaison with head of the institution, District Education Officer and District Election Officer Ganderbal.RNA
