                                                                Srinagar,  March 23 (RNA) : Moderate to heavy rains lashed  Kashmir valley today for third consecutive day increasing the water level in river Jhelum and its tributaries but there is no flood threat in the valley so far, an official said.
Chief Engineer of Irrigation department  Iftikhar Kamroo told Regional News  Agency over phone that due to continuous rains over the last three days the water level in river Jhelum and its tributaries has increased.however, the water level in the river Jhelum was  still flowing below the danger mark. 
The Chief Engineer added  that the water level was  still flowing below the danger mark and it would  depend upon the intensity of rains in next two days  to determine whether there was a serious threat of floods or not. "If it remains clear the water levels are expected to reduce. But there is no immediate threat of floods as of now."
He said control rooms have been set up where officials will remain available round the clock. He also told RNA, that  officials were  keeping a constant vigil on the water level.
As per Regional News Agency the weather forecaster predicted   moderate to heavy rain  across plains of Kashmir valley and Some improvement in weather conditions is expected from late evening. 
Meanwhile people are requested not to panic but remain alert and vigilant and in case of any emergency people are requested to contact Irrigation and Flood Control Department and District Administration of respective districts, RNA.
